eGaming Integrity has launched a new Independent Safer Gambling Audit Service, providing operators with a structured, evidence-based assessment of how their safer gambling controls operate in practice.
The service is designed to deliver credible, audit-led assurance against the UK Gambling Commission’s Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), with a particular focus on Social Responsibility Code provisions applicable to remote operators.
Unlike high-level reviews or certification-style schemes, the Safer Gambling Audit is delivered as a formal audit engagement, examining governance, policies, systems, customer interaction processes and management oversight. The objective is to provide Boards and senior management with a clear, independent view of control effectiveness, regulatory risk and areas requiring improvement.
A structured, regulator-aligned approach
The audit follows a defined methodology aligned to UKGC expectations and enforcement themes, covering key areas including:
Safer gambling governance and oversight
Customer interaction and escalation controls
Financial vulnerability and risk checks
Self-exclusion and player protection tools
Marketing consent and affiliate oversight
Complaints handling and dispute resolution
Monitoring, reporting and internal assurance
Each engagement results in a formal Audit Report, supported by an evidence pack suitable for regulatory inspection, alongside clear findings, risk ratings and practical recommendations.
Responding to increased regulatory and stakeholder scrutiny
The launch comes at a time of increasing regulatory focus on safer gambling effectiveness, alongside the winding down of several legacy certification schemes across the sector. As expectations shift, operators are increasingly seeking independent assurance that reflects how controls operate day-to-day, rather than relying solely on policy-based or badge-driven assessments.
“Safer gambling assurance needs to move beyond theoretical compliance. Our audit approach is designed to test whether controls are genuinely effective in practice, providing Boards with evidence-based insight they can rely on when engaging with regulators and other stakeholders.” - Robert Penfold, Head of Internal Audit
Designed to support operators, not replace them
The Safer Gambling Audit Service is intended to complement, not duplicate, existing compliance and operational frameworks. Engagements are scoped proportionately, recognising differences in business models, scale and risk profile, while maintaining consistency with regulatory standards.
The service is suitable for operators seeking independent assurance, preparing for regulatory engagement, or looking to strengthen internal governance and oversight ahead of increased scrutiny.
